Kundapur, Dec 7: The forest department staff of Halady unit have arrested two persons for transporting sandalwood illegal at Hoigebelaru near Hiliyana here on Wednesday December 6.
The arrested have been identified as Ganapathy Shetty, a resident of Santhe Marukatte near Sidhapur and Gurva, a resident of Janata Colony in Sidhapur. They have already been produced before local court.
They were arrested while transporting sandalwood illegally on Someshwar-Halady state highway at Hoigebelaru. The police seized 6.6 kilograms of sandalwood, a saw and a sickle from them.
