Sunny, but cold in Himachal after snowfall


Shimla, Dec 23 (IANS): It was bright and sunny across Himachal Pradesh Tuesday after two days of rain and snowfall, even though temperatures remained below the freezing point at many places.

"It was a bright, sunny day almost across the state, but temperatures remained below the freezing point in many places," a Met official told IANS here.

Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul-Spiti, was the coldest at a minimum temperature of minus 3.4 degrees Celsius. It experienced 2 cm of snowfall.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw a low of minus 0.2 degree, while the temperature was 4.5 degrees in Shimla, 4.8 degrees in Dharamsala and 0.2 degree in Manali.

Shimla recorded the maximum temperature at 13.5 degrees Celsius.

The Met office said the weather would remain dry till Christmas.
