Modi hails Kashmir, Jharkhand results


New Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday hailed the election results in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir, saying voters in the former had voted for stability.

The "record (voter) turnout in Jammu and Kashmir showed people's faith in democracy," Modi said in a tweet. "I thank them from the bottom of my heart for placing their confidence in the BJP."

Modi added: "People of Jharkhand have voted for stability, which is essential to realise the true potential of the state. I congratulate them.

"My congratulations to the BJP (workers) of Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir," he said. "The results are the outcome of their hard work and selfless dedication."
