2014 has been unprecedented for BJP: Amit Shah

New Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS): Upbeat about the BJP's good show in the Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, party chief Amit Shah Tuesday said the year 2014 has been unprecedented for his party.

Shah said the Bharatiya Janata Party first formed an absolute majority government at the centre, and thereafter "there has been a good performance" in the states as well.

Addressing reporters at the BJP headquarters here, Shah said all that was promised to the people of Jharkhand would be fulfilled.

"The Congress and so-called Janata Parivar tried to stop us but they have failed in Jharkhand," he said.

Shah said they would meet the same fate when they fight against the BJP in Bihar next year.

"The people of Jharkhand have destroyed their dreams," he said, referring to the Congress and the Janata Parivar.

The BJP chief said his party has considerably improved its past seat tally in all the states it has contested after the general elections earlier this year.

"Our government is pursuing the agenda of development and people who want progress are with us," he said.

On why his party could meet the target of 40 seats in Kashmir, Shah said he was happy as the "desired progress was made by the party" in the state.

He said the BJP was keeping its options open in Kashmir and would like to form the government, participate in formation of the government or even support it from outside.

"All options are open in Jammu and Kashmir," he said, adding that the BJP would want that a popular government is formed in the state.

Shah, however, regretted that his party's former chief minister of Jharkhand, Arjum Munda, lost the assembly elections but said the party would continue seeking his guidance in the state.
