Bantwal, Dec 7: A police constable of Venur police station on Wednesday December 6 assaulted a tailor at Vittal near here.

Balakrishna (28), a constable in the Venur police station is said to have assaulted Bhagwandas (42), a tailor at Vittal on Wednesday.  Balakrishna's sister knew Bhagwandas for sometime now.  A few days ago, the latter had received a missed call from Balakrishna's house.  So he called back.

But Balakrishna's sister mistook him and told her brother about the incident.  On Wednesday when both Balakrishna and his sister had come to Vittal, they met Bhagwandas who was walking by the roadside.  Soon after seeing him, Balakrishna assaulted him in public and also warned him not to try to speak to his sister.

Bhagwandas sustained injuries in the assault and was admitted to community hospital at Vittal.  He has now filed a case against Balakrishna in the Vittal police station in this regard.
