Lawyers clash with police in Agra

Agra, Dec 24 (IANS): Lawyers demanding the setting up of a bench of the Allahabad High Court here clashed with police after their attempt to lock court rooms was foiled on the district judge's order.

There was tension and chaos at the civil courts for nearly two hours after which the courts functioned normally.

The lawyers said their demand was based on the recommendations of the Justice Jaswant Singh commission report. They had earlier protested at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi Dec 19.
