Mangalore, Dec 8: Deputy chief minister B S Yediyurappa visited the violence-hit areas of Mulki here on Thursday December 7.
Addressing a press conference on the occasion, he said that the government will strengthen the police stations in order to boost their efficiency especially during incidents of violence. This will be done by providing necessary equipment, vehicles and filling vacant posts.
He cited the absence of adequate police officers in the Mulki station as the reason for recent violence.
He further said that Rs 40 crore will be released by the state government for the construction of the second vented dam at Thumbe.
He informed that about 2.5 lac boys in the state will be provided with bicycles during the next two months.
He also assured that the repair work on the Shiradi ghat section will be completed within 15 days.
Among those present were district in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and BJP district president Monappa Bhandary.
