Chennai, Dec 25 (IANS): Visits to churches, exchange of gifts and greetings marked Christmas celebrations in Tamil Nadu Thursday.
Midnight masses were held at various churches here and across the state.
The Velankanni Church in Nagapattinam district attracted huge number of faithful.
Leaders including Governor K. Rosaiah, DMK president M. Karunanidhi and others conveyed their wishes to Christians.
Bakeries did brisk business, selling cakes and other goodies.
"We exchanged cakes and other goodies with our neighbours," said C. Mathew, a public sector employee.
