Mangalore, Dec 8: Dr Sanjeev Rai, dean of Fr Muller Medical College inaugurated Art Beat-2006, an intercollegiate competition of St Aloysius art department  at college auditorium here on Friday December 8.

In his inaugural address he said ‘teaching should not restrict within the four walls of the class room and it should go beyond the class room and if it is combined with extra curricular skills it will help the students to develop their over all skills. While participating in inter-collegiate competitions provides a platform to exhibit their talent and help the students to develop and nourish their creative skills, it also helps them to get better exposure."

Fr Francis Serrao, rector of St Aloysius College presided over the function. Nearly ten colleges are participating in the fest.

An exhibition of various antique artifacts is also part of the art beat.  Fr Eugene Lobo, principal of St Aloysius College, Ligory Mendonca, dean of art faculty, Art beat coordinator Ratan Tilak Mohunta and student coordinator Fahim Ahmed were also present.
