Former US president George Bush remains hospitalised

Washington, Dec 25 (IANS): Former US president George H.W. Bush remained hospitalised in Houston Wednesday after experiencing shortness of breath, a family spokesman said.

Bush was taken by an ambulance to Houston Methodist Hospital Tuesday after experiencing shortness of breath and remained there for observation, Xinhua reported.

In an email Wednesday, spokesman Jim McGrath told the media that "all is well" and that there was "no new news to report."

McGrath said a day earlier that Bush was taken to hospital "as a precaution". He did not say whether the 90-year-old former president would be able to spend his Christmas at home.

Bush spent Christmas 2012 at the same hospital for a bronchitis-related cough and other health issues. He remained there for nearly two months before being discharged.

Bush suffers from Vascular Parkinsonism, a form of Parkinson's disease which has forced him to use a motorized scooter or wheelchair since 2012.

Bush celebrated his 90th birthday in June by taking to the air for a tandem skydiving jump near his summer home in Maine.
