The footballer who hates Christmas

London, Dec 25 (IANS): Former Germany and Chelsea defender Robert Huth has revealed that he hates festive season of the English Premier League (EPL).

The 30-year-old clearly did not get any goodwill in his stocking, reports dailystar.co.uk.

"I hate Christmas," the Stoke star tweeted on Christmas morning.

We have no idea why the former Chelsea stopper is not a fan of December 25.

But it could be down to the fact that Christmas Day involves training for most EPL players and Huth was unhappy at not being able to help himself to turkey and stuffing.

Thankfully many of his fellow Premier League pros were more in the spirit of things.

England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney tweeted: "Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all have a great day."

His teammate Radamel Falcao also released his own Christmas message.

Across town Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko also joined in, writing: "Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates."

It will be a busy Boxing Day of Premier League action as Chelsea take on high-flying West Ham at lunchtime.
