Rajasthan shivers; trains, flights hit


Jaipur, Dec 25 (IANS): There was no let up in the cold wave conditions in Rajasthan Thursday, with the temperature in Bikaner dropping to minus 0.5 degrees Celsius and dense fog continuing to disrupt both air and rail services.

More than 20 trains were running behind schedule, North Western Railway said.

According to weather department officials, Mount Abu, the only hill station in the desert state, was shivering at 4.6 degrees Celsius.

Churu saw a low of 6 degrees, while state capital Jaipur was chilly at 7 degrees Celsius. Jaisalmer recorded 5.2 degrees and Alwar 6.5.

Weather department officials said cold wave conditions were likely to prevail for a few more days, while light rain would also occur at many places within the next two days.
