Head constable held while taking bribe


Gurgaon, Dec 27 (IANS): A Haryana Police head constable was arrested here Saturday while accepting Rs, 5,000 as bribe, police said.

Head constable Virender Singh posted in the summoning department in sector-5 police station was arrested by a State Vigilance Bureau team.

"The accused was caught 'red handed' while accepting the money from complainant Sanjay Saini," a vigilance department officer said.

Saini, a resident of sector 12-A here, had complained to the vigilance department that the accused was demanding money to execute a summon to a man against whom he (Saini) had filed a complaint.

"A court has issued non-bailable warrant against a man. Saini wanted the execution of summon but accused demanded bribe to do so," the officer said.

The arrest was made in the presence of an executive magistrate. The accused will be produced in the court of duty magistrate Sunday.
