Rajasthan shivers, fog delays trains


Jaipur, Dec 28 (IANS): Rajasthan continued to shiver Sunday, as temperatures dipped up to five degrees below normal and dense fog affected both train and flight services, officials said.

The North Western Railway said at least 13 trains were running behind schedule by 2-13 hours. Some flights were also delayed.

Churu recorded a minimum temperature of 1.4 degrees Celsius, while Mount Abu, the only hill station in the desert state, shivered at 2.4 degrees.

Udaipur and Pali were cold at 4.4 and 3.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

State capital Jaipur recorded a minimum of 6.5 degrees, Alwar saw a low of 2.5, Pilani 4.3 and Sri Ganganagar 2.4 degrees.

Weather officials said cold wave conditions were likely to persist for the next two days.

Ground frost would also occur at isolated places, a weather department official said.
