Cameroon army kills over 40 suspected Boko Haram militants


Yaounde, Dec 29 (IANS): More than 40 suspected militants of the Nigeria-based Boko Haram were killed in a series of confrontations with the Cameroonian army here, Cameroonian Communication Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary said.

One Cameroonian soldier was killed in the clashes, the minister said Sunday night, Xinhua reported.

According to him, the militants attacked several places in the region bordering Nigeria.

The militants attacked Achigachia Sunday morning forcing the Cameroonian army to retreat but the army later seized control of the location after the Air Force entered into action.

The militants suffered heavy losses in Chogori where 34 of them were killed, the minister said.
