UP on alert after Bengaluru blast

Lucknow, Dec 29 (IANS): An alert has been sounded across Uttar Pradesh Monday after a low intensity blast killed a woman and injured three in Bengaluru late Sunday, an official said.

District officials across 75 districts have been asked to remain vigilant in view of the Bengaluru explosion and the festive season, a home department official said.

"In any case New Year's eve is a sensitive time for the security agencies and the police and all care is being taken in that regard. The Bengaluru incident has only added to the vigil," the official told IANS.

An instruction has also been issued to all district police chiefs to ensure that security in and around crowded places, busy thoroughfares, and public places are tight.

The anti-terror squad, state and local intelligence units, the special task force and government railway police have been sensitized to the threat perception in the festive season, the official added.
