Cold wave continues in Kashmir


Srinagar, Dec 30 (IANS): The cold wave continued across Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday as night temperatures remained below the freezing point in the Valley and the Ladakh region.

Met department officials said the cold wave will continue in the state as weather is expected to remain dry in Jammu and Kashmir till Wednesday.

"The minimum temperature was minus 3.8 degrees Celsius in Srinagar while it was minus 4.2 in Gulmarg, minus 6 in Pahalgam. Leh town recorded minus 14.3 and Kargil town had minus 13.6 degrees celsius.

"Jammu city recorded 5.3 degrees as the lowest overnight temperature," an official of the Met department said.

Fisher men and boat men are finding life difficult due to foggy mornings with deep frost.

Commuters and motorists also preferred to remain indoors because of freezing cold and slippery roads in the city Tuesday.
