Lakhvi detained yet again

Islamabd, Dec 30 (IANS): Mumbai terror attack mastermind Zakiur Rahman Lakhvi was detained yet again after he was booked in an abduction case, a media report said Tuesday.

The case has been registered against Lakhvi in Islamabad, Dawn online reported.

The First Information Report (FIR) was lodged after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday suspended Lakhvi's detention orders that were issued by the Islamabad district administration soon after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted him bail Dec 18.

According to the fresh FIR registered late Monday night, Lakhvi was said to be involved in the abduction of a man named Anwar.

He was produced in a court in Islamabad amid tight security.

The decision to suspend his detention drew a sharp reaction from India and it summoned Pakistan’s High Commissioner to lodge protest.

On Dec 19, Lakhvi was detained under the maintenance of public order, a day after he was granted bail by an anti-terrorism court (ATC).

Lakhvi was arrested in February 2009 and was indicted with six others Nov 25, 2009 on the basis of the confessional statement of the lone surviving attacker Ajmal Kasab, who was executed in India Nov 21, 2012.
