Agra records coldest day in 22 years

Agra, Dec 31 (IANS): Agra recorded its coldest day in 22 years Tuesday as the maximum temperature hovered around 10 degrees Celsius, an official said Wednesday.

The weatherman said the day temperature in this Uttar Pradesh city was the lowest since 1992.

Visibility was also reduced due to dense fog, delaying a number of trains, while many others were cancelled.

The Met Office said the the temperatures would continue to fall in the coming days. However, this did not deter tourists and New Year revellers as hotels here are fully booked.

In Vrindavan, a heavy rush of devotees and pilgrims is expected and elaborate security arrangements have been made.
