Mercury rises in Himachal


Shimla, Dec 31 (IANS): The hills of Himachal Pradesh Wednesday witnessed a marginal rise in temperature due to sunny days, but the Met Office here has forecast a possibility of rain and snow Saturday.

"There are chances of rainfall and snowfall in the state January 3. Till then dry weather will prevail across the state," a meteorological official told IANS.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in the state with a low of minus 5.8 degrees against Tuesday's minus 7.3 degrees.

Shimla recorded the minimum temperature at 3.9 degrees, a rise by one degree from the previous day.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district and Manali recorded a low of minus 2 degrees each, while it was 5.4 degrees in Dharamsala, 2.8 degrees in Dalhousie and 3.5 degrees in Chamba.
