Mangalore, Dec 12: State rural development minister C M Udasi has ordered the Kudmal Rangarav Hostel administration to provide the inmates with mosquito nets.

The hostel has been hitting news headlines continuously of late. It was only in the last week that one of the inmates Bina had died of malaria.  However, nothing was over yet.  The hostel hit the headlines once again on Monday December 11 after 10 more inmates were admitted to hospital owing to malaria.

Minister Udasi who was on a visit to Dharmasthala visited the hostel on Tuesday December 12 morning.  He inspected the surroundings, the kitchen, and dormitory in the hostel.  Later he opined that cleanliness has not been given importance in the hostel and it is owing to lack of cleanliness that students are taking ill often.

District-in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty, MLAs Yogish Bhat and Krishna Palemar and welfare officer Thimmappa were also present with the minister.
