Mangalore, Dec 13: The all-India general strike on Thursday December 14 announced by AIFUCTO is gaining more support. After the association of trade unions decided to join the strike, now it is the teachers who have expressed their support.
Federation of University and College Teachers' Association in Karnataka (FUCTAK) and Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) have called upon college teachers to join the dharna and meetings to be held as part of the protest.
The teachers will place such demands as right to education as a fundamental right, banning of direct entry to foreign universities, formation of UGC pay review committee, democratization of university and college administration, using a minimum of 6 per cent of GDP for education among others.
