Honda's December sales up 163 percent


New Delhi, Jan 2 (IANS): Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda Cars India (HCIL) Friday reported an increase of 163 percent in sales during December 2014 at 14,428 units from 5,493 units sold during the corresponding month of 2013.

"Year 2014 has been a very successful year for HCIL business with record sales of crossing 1.79 lakh units in the domestic market in a calendar year," said Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice president, marketing and sales, HCIL.

"Strong demand for all models throughout the year has contributed to 67 percent growth in HCIL sales in 2014. Honda's fast expanding dealer network in Tier III markets has further contributed to this sales growth."

According to the company, it registered the highest ever domestic sales in a calendar year with sales of 179,816 units during 2014 with an overall growth of 67 percent from 107,661 units sold in 2013.

During April-December 2014, the company's sales grew by 53 percent and stood at 131,133 units from 85,656 units sold in the corresponding period of 2013.
