Tata Motors' December sales up 10 percent


Mumbai, Jan 2 (IANS): Automobile major Tata Motors Friday reported a growth of ten percent in its total sales, including exports, for December 2014.

The automobile manufacturer sold 41,734 units last month against an off-take of 37,836 units in the corresponding month of 2013.

The company’s domestic sales in the month under review grew by eight percent at 37,776 units from 35,010 vehicles sold in the corresponding month of 2013.

According to Tata Motors, while market continued to remain challenged by macroeconomic trends, segments such as medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCV) showed a 62 percent growth year-on-year.

The company's exports grew by 40 percent at 3,958 units from 2,826 vehicles shipped out during December 2013.

Tata Motors' passenger vehicles sales were up 30 percent at 12,040 units from 9,272 units sold during the same month in 2013.

Sales of commercial vehicles during last month in the domestic market was flat at 25,736 units.
