Three killed, 25 injured in Bengal bus accident

Siliguri, Jan 4 (IANS): A mad race between two buses trying to overtake each other Sunday led to the death of three people, and left 25 others injured in northern West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district, police said.

The accident took place at the Bandhunagar crossing on the national highway between Siliguri and Jalpaiguri towns.

A Dhupguri-bound bus travelling at a high speed tried to overtake another bus, but hit a pick-up van before colliding with a tree and an electric post.

Both the bus and the pick-up van overturned, and three people, including two brothers, travelling in the van died on the spot.

The injured, all bus passengers, were hospitalised.
