Bihar: Armed miscreants loot Tata-Chhapra Express

Jan 5, Agencies: 15 armed miscreants looted cash and valuables from 4 sleeper compartments of the Tata-Chhapra express in Jamui district of Bihar last night.

According to reports in NDTV, passengers alleged that the guards on duty inside the train chose to hide instead of apprehending the robbers.

This region of Bihar has been witness to three major train robberies in the last week itself , with a Bihar police jawan losing his life and another critically injured in one of the attacks.

    Looting in trains in Bihar is not new. It was going on for long, for sometime looting was not there, but, looks like it has started with a bang. There was a time when passengers were booking tickets in trains that were not passing thru Bihar due to this.
    Some years back, a cartoon was there in Times of India where in a train in Bihar, passengers were in a relaxed mood. Then, these looters entered the train and started asking valuables. Passengers laughingly told them "Are you new to Bihar ? Train is already 100 km inside Bihar and we have been looted long back."
