Mangalore, Dec 14: Labour organizations such as Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU), All India Postal Employees Union (AIPEU), BSNL employees union, insurance employees union and others went on a strike on Thursday December 16 at 10 am in front of the DC office here.
DK district Labours Association Joint committee director B Madhava said that the government’s decision for cent per cent investment in retail sale for Wallmart, a multinational company would make Indian labourers jobless and affect the Indian retail business largely.
Madhava added that the privatization of the telecom and other industries done by the Government was against the public interest and warned that the government’s plans to adopt the same policies for the airport and other profitable industries will affect the common man in the long run.
AIIEA president Nagesh Kumar was present.
