Baroda, Jan 5: Karnataka Rajyotsava awardee and Billavara Mahamandala Mulki president Jaya C Suvarna was publicly honoured at Gujarat Billavara Sangha hall at Baroda Alkapura. The programme was held by Gujarat Billava Sangha and Tulu Sangha, Baroda on Jan 4.
The programme was presided by Gujarat Billava Sangha founder president Dayanand Bontra. He is also the honorary president of Tulu Sangha Baroda. Mohan C Poojary Ahmedabad, K S Anchan Soorat, Tulu Sangha Baroda former president Jayarama S Shetty and S K Haleangady, Billavara Association Mumbai president Nithyananda D Kotian, Tulu Sangha Baroda president Shashidhar B Shetty and other elite people present on the occasion felicitated Jaya C Suvarna and congratulated him.
Responding to the felicitation, Jaya C Suvarna said that Gujarat Billava Sangha and Tulu Sangha Baroda were serving the Kannadigas migrated to Baroda. He said that he has become holy by the felicitation he said.
Dayanand Bontraru in his presidential address said that felicitations and awards are not enough considering the service of Jayanna. His characteristics such as far sightedness and proceeding with the team are one in a million. May his simplicity and guidance to the society grow and may he live for hundred years and be an asset to the country, he said.
Shashidhar B Shetty welcomed and said that an opportunity to felicitate unique social worker Jaya Suvarna has humbled them. S K Haleangady in his speech said that Jaya Suvarna is an asset of Tulunadu and hoped that he may get the award of Padmashree for his sincere service.
The elite people did Arathi pooja to Gayathri Devi, Koti Chennaya and Brahmashree Narayana Guru idols in the mandira during the beginning of the programme. Several office bearers of both the organizations, Women's wing leaders and members were present. Dayanand Salian and team led the prayer. Sujatha K Shetty read the letter of felicitation.
Sarala Dinesh Shetty compered cultural programme and Balakrishna Shetty compered the remaining programme.
Tulu Sanga Baroda treasurer Vasu P Poojary proposed vote of thanks. Hundreds of billavas and Tulu Kannadigas from Ahmedabad, Vapi, Soorat and other places in Gujarat felicitated Jaya Suvarna with flower
bouquets.
