Udupi, Dec 14: A young housewife near Kota of Brahmavar here ended her life by jumping into the well along with her 18-day-old child on Tuesday December 12.

Devaki Kulal (20), wife of Raju Kulal of Sasigoli near Kukkunje here is said to have jumped into a well near here house along with her baby boy Rahul on Tuesday afternoon when no one was in her house. 

Devaki was the daughter of Daru Kulal. She had been given in marriage to Raju Kulal of Hallihole one and half year ago.  Since Raju was working in a restaurant at Beltangady, Devaki was staying with her parents at Sasigoli.

On Tuesday afternoon, her parents were sleeping when she took her son Rahul and jumped into the well.  It was only much later that her parents came to know about this.  By then Devaki had breathed her last.  Bodies were handed over to the family after autopsy at Kota PHC.

So far it is not yet known as why Devaki took this extreme decision to jump into the well and end her life.  Kota police have registered a case in this regard.
