Mangalore, Dec 14: Various trade unions staged protest in front of the deputy commissioner's office as part of all-India strike on Thursday December 14 morning.

The agitators place various demands before the administration and asked the government to consider their demands.  They opposed the government's decision to privatize nationalized banks, insurance sector, airports, telecom sector etc.  They demanded the government to control inflation rate and hike in price of essential commodities.

Sunil Kumar Bajal, B P Narayana, Jairaj, Venugopal, B K Krishnappa, Nagesh Kumar and others led the protest.

Meanwhile the strike call given by trade unions had little impact in the city as life went on smoothly in and around the city with buses and rickshaws plying without fail. Except those who supported the strike, no one else joined the strike directly.
