Court takes up charge sheet against Uber cab driver


New Delhi Jan 5 (IANS): A court here Monday took cognizance of the charge sheet filed against a driver of the Uber taxi company who was accused of raping a 27-year-old woman executive here Dec 5.

Metropolitan Magistrate Ajay Kumar Malik took cognizance of the charge sheet and transferred the case to sessions court, posting the matter for Jan 7.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police have supplied documents related to the charge sheet to the accused driver, Shiv Kumar Yadav, who was alleged to have raped the woman in his cab.

Yadav, 32, allegedly committed the rape on the night of Dec 5, when the woman, who works for a finance company in Gurgaon, was heading back home in north Delhi's Inderlok area.

The charge sheet was filed Dec 24, 19 days after the sexual attack.
