Law and order deteriorating in Himachal: BJP MP

New Delhi, Jan 5 (IANS): BJP MP Anurag Thakur has written to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, a statement said Monday.

In the letter, Thakur apprised the chief minister about incidents of theft of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited cables and telephony equipment.

In his Hamirpur parliamentary constituency alone, there were 600 incidents of cable theft, which resulted in disconnection of about 5,000 to 6,000 telephone connections, said the statement quoting Thakur.

Thakur also slammed the police for their failure to trace an antique idol of Lord Raghunath from Kullu town.

"This shows the failure of police and law and order situation in the state," he added.

The main idol of Lord Raghunath was found missing last month from a temple in Sultanpur in Kullu, about 200 km from here.

Raja Jagat Singh, the erstwhile ruler of Kullu, obtained the idol from Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh and built the temple in the 17th century.
