Mangalore, Dec 16: John Prasad Menezes, the newly-elected president of Kannara Chamber of Commerce and Industry was felicitated by Rachana, a forum of Catholic Industrialists, Business and Professionals here recently. 

M R Vaudeville, director of Mangalore Airport was the chief gust and felicitated Menezes.

Addressing on the occasion M R Vasudeva presented a detailed report of works completed and yet to be completed for the International Airport including extension of the runway, terminal building. He also said "We hope that  the flights to other countries will commence shortly" . 

While addressing the gathering John Prasad Menezes said that the new industrial developments around the district are hampered slightly because of the communal riots and the bad roads. 

On the occasion he praised the effort made by Mabel Rebello, Member of Rajya Sabha who is also the member of works committee of highways of MP's. New airport in Mangalore will open new avenues for travel but it will also create new markets for imports and exports.

Marcel Monteiro, president of Rachana welcomed the gathering.

Secretary Ronnie Gomes proposed vote of thanks. Master of ceremony was by Karen D'Mello.
