Mangalore, Dec 16: The annual week-long Konkani Bazaar was inaugurated on Carmel Hill at Bikarnakatta near here on Saturday December 16 morning. The Bazaar was inaugurated by former Udupi MP and AICC member Vinay Kumar Sorake.
Fr Nelson Pinto presided over the inaugural function. Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy preside Eric Ozario's 'baila' cassette too was released on the occasion.
It was also announced that a Konkani news channel would soon be launched by "Ad-venture".
Konkani Bazaar has been organized by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy in order to support Konkani writers, musicians, journalists and give a market to their books, music album etc. This being the Christmas season kuswar (special Christmas delicacies), stars, 'Christmas Tree', decorations, crib sets, greeting cards etc are available at special promotional prices. A special 50% discount will be admissible on all things in the stalls set up by the Academy.
Eric Ozario welcomed the gathering while Konkani Sahitya Academy registrar S H Shivarudrappa proposed the vote of thanks. Academy member Vitori Karkal compered the programme.
