Mangalore, Dec 16: "It is the right time that the student community wakes up from their slumber and plays a vital role in building country," said well-known journalist and columnist Chakravarthy Soolibele.
He was addressing the "Samarasya Rally" (Rally for Harmony) at Nehru Maidan here on Saturday December 16 morning. The rally was organized by Shri Guruji Birth Centenary Committee.
He further said that terrorism, corruption and other social evils are rising day by day in the country. "Youth are being easily misled by some people to serve their selfish motives. So unless the students wake up, the next generation may have to face tough times in all walks of life," he opined.
Since all religions are held at an equal esteem in the country, voluntary conversion is not a big issue. However, forcing one to change his religion is certainly wrong and this would create a lot of ill-blood among the sections of people, he pointed.
Students Vishwas Kamat and Raksha delivered awareness address. VHP leader M B Puranik too was present on the dais. M Sridhar Shetty welcomed the gathering.
