DRDO employee attempts suicide on Delhi Metro track


New Delhi, Jan 8 (IANS): A DRDO employee is in critical condition after he attempted suicide by jumping before a Delhi Metro train in the city Thursday, police said.

Rajiv Kumar, who works with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), jumped on the tracks at Udyog Bhawan Metro station as a train bound for Jahangirpuri entered the station.

The incident occurred at 12.23 p.m. Kumar was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where doctors described his condition as critical, a police official said, adding that no suicide note was found on him.

The official said Kumar, in his early 30s, sustained grievous injuries on his neck and head.

Metro services on the Yellow Line were interrupted between 12.24 p.m. and 12.37 p.m., causing inconvenience to thousands of passengers.
