Seoul, Jan 8 (IANS): South Korean prosecutors Thursday said they have demanded the deportation of a Korean American woman who had made pro-North Korean remarks during a series of talk shows.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office asked the justice ministry to deport Shin Eun-mi for her remarks in violation of the National Security Law, which bans any activity to praise, encourage and glorify the North Korean regime, Xinhua reported.

The Korean American woman made positive remarks towards the North Korean regime during the talk show in November 2013 co-hosted by Hwang Sun, former deputy spokeswoman of the now-defunct Democratic Labour Party.

Some conservative South Korean groups filed a complaint against Hwang and Shin, citing their activities and remarks.

Shin reportedly planned to go back to the US Dec 12, but was banned from leaving South Korea Dec 11 as she disobeyed summons from the police for questioning.

Since then, the police have summoned Shin three times.

If Shin is deported from South Korea, she cannot gain admission into the country for the next five years.
