Bantwal, Dec 19: The police led by Batnwal CI Ganapathy have arrested 3 persons in connection with the December 7 blast incident at Sevanjali Trust premises at Farangipet near here on Monday December 18.
The arrested have been identified as Nawaz (19), a resident of Kumpanamajalu, Mohammad Nawaz (19) and Muchabba alias Mustaf (19), residents of Farangipet. The accused said to have confessed their crime. Their intention was to create confusion and stir communal feelings in the area, said police sources.
They had initial thought of setting the blast at Bangera Wines at Farangipet. However, they did not succeed owing to large number of people coming and going in the area. Finally they threw the blast in the Sevanjali Trust premises and quietly fled the place.
They have also said that they used locally-made crude bomb which is known as 'thote' in the area and which is usually used in catching fish. One of the accused knew to prepare these kinds of explosives, police said.
The arrested were later produced before the court which has now remanded them to one week judicial custody.
