Mangalore, Dec 21: The 14th International Conference on Advanced Computing and Communications (ADCOM 2006) was inaugurated at the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka (NITK), Suratkal here on Wednesday December 20.
Speaking on the occasion, Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), New Delhi president Prof N R Shetty said autonomic computing is growing significantly in the field of research. Industries and institutions around the globe are involved in extensive research, while India is lagging behind, he said.
Prof L M Patnaik of Bangalore based IISc who has authored several research papers was felicitated on the occasion.
The proceedings of the event will be published by the IEEE press, said Prof K Chandra Sekaran, department of Computer engineering, NITK.
NITK director Prof Sandeep Sancheti presided over the programme. Also present were NIT Warangal director Y V Rao, New Delhi based Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University vice-chancellor Prof K K Aggarwal and Communication Society (ACS) president Anirban Basu.
The four-day conference will focus on pre-emptive and pro-active initiatives in all fields of computing.
