Kabul, Jan 13 (IANS): Ten militants were killed when security forces raided Taliban hideouts in southern Afghanistan's Helmand province Tuesday, an army spokesman said.
"Units of the national army launched cleanup operations in Tarekh area of Nawa district early morning and so far six insurgents have been killed and three others injured," Xinhua news agency quoted Mohammad Rasoul Zazai as telling reporters in Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital.
Four more insurgents were killed and another injured in the neighbouring Musa Qala district during operations against the Taliban Tuesday, said the official.
He said the security personnel also captured a militant during operations in Sangin district, a Taliban hotbed.
