Mangalore, Dec 22: Karnataka State Minister for Heath R Ashok on Thursday supported ban on sale of soft drinks including Pepsi and Coca-Cola products in schools, colleges and hostels. Speaking to press persons after flagging off the 'Janapada Siri' organized as part of the month-long Karavali Utsav at Nehru Maidan, Ashok said that the ban is essential in the interest of children's health.

Ashok also said that government is also thinking of banning the use of colouring substances in food items in hotels.

He further said that the BPL card holders will get free medical care in government hospitals while the rest will be charged a nominal charge on medical procedures.

Ashok also informed that a probe is in progress into the death of the girl from the Kudmul Rangarao Hostel, Kodialbail.
