Udupi, Dec 22: The birth centenary programme of Ti Nam Shree was organized by the Manipal Academy of General Education at MGM College here on Thursday December 21.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme, well-known litterateur Kayyara Kinhanna Rai stressed that students must be taught in their mother tongue till high school and that English should not be made the language of instruction. He expressed his concern over the poor usage of Kannada in courts.

Despite Mahajan Commission’s report that Kasaragod belongs to Karnataka and uproar by Kasargod Kannadigas, the government has not initiated any steps in resolving the issue.  Rai added that he will make every effort to bring back Kasargod to Karnataka. 

Present on the occasion were MGM College principal Prof M L Samaga, and Pre-University College principal Prof Padmavathi Badikkillaya.
