Mangalore, Dec 22: The protest against the government’s order to introduce nominal fee for treatment at Wenlock hospital here went a step further with DYFI and JMS activists surrounding health minister R Ashok here on Thursday December 21.
The minister was in the city to inaugurate Janapada Siri on December 21. Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane (JMS) members gheraoed him near Hampankatta circle here and protested against the government’s move.
Addressing the crowd, DYFI president Muneer Katipalla termed the move as a burden on poor patients and said that the protest has been staged against the health minister to revolt against the anti-people policy of the government.
They also submitted a memorandum to the minister regarding the issue.
Ashok assured the protesters that he would look in to the matter.
