Beltangady, Dec 22: The convocation ceremony of Ujire Sri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College was held on Thursday December 21 here.
Presiding over the programme, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade asked the students to adopt treatment methods that are devoid of medicines. He also sought the government’s advice to the university to allow post graduate courses in the college.
Minister for health and family welfare R Ashok said that permission has been sought from the central government to set up yoga and naturopathy treatment units in 18 district hospitals of the state, under the Puraskrita scheme of the central government. He added that lack of research is hampering progress in ancient systems.
Thirty four students who were administered the oath were given certificates. College principal Dr Vittal Saralaya, Dr Sharavanan and MLA Prabhakar Bangera were among those present.
