Mangalore, Dec 22: The Xavier Industrial Training Centre, Assaigoli, Konaje will celebrate its 22 nd Annual Day on Dec 27. The occasion will also mark the inauguration of the new administrative block, hostel, stage, play ground and motor mechanic wing of the institute.

Briefing the media on Friday, chairman of the Xavier Educational Trust J J V Fernandes said that the minister for labour and minority welfare Iqbal Ansari will inaugurated the administrative block, while the motor mechanic wing will be inaugurated by builder and developer Ronald Colaco.

The hostel block will be inaugurated by Peter and Ashok Mathias, management consultants, New York. Mangalore MLC Blasius M D’Souza will inaugurate the play ground while the stage will be inaugurated by coffee planter Joyce Saldanha.

The Xavier Motor Driving School will be inaugurated by Leo Quadros of Regency Builders and Developers, Bangalore.

HMP President, Karnataka Michael Fernandes will release the souvenir while the audio visual room and library will be inaugurated by Fr Stany Miranda of St Peter’s Seminary, Bangalore.

The annual day celebration will be held at 5.30 pm in the institute premises. Fr Vijay Kumar Prabhu, Provincial, Karnataka Province of the Society of Jesus will bless the occasion. Vice-president of JDS, Karnataka J S Noronha will be one of the guests of honour.

The Xavier Industrial Training Centre, a unit of Xavier Educational Trust was established in 1984 by J J V Fernandes, as the chairman, F M Lobo as the treasurer and the late Oswald Kamath as the secretary.

The institute is now 22 years old and functions in its campus of 4.2 acres in Assaigoli, Konaje and offers 5 ITI courses in the trades of electrician, electronic mechanic, mechanic refrigeration and air-condition, diesel mechanic and welder trade.
