Paris attacks: Al Qaeda in Arabian Peninsula claims responsibility

Sanaa, Jan 14 (IANS): The Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula claimed, in an online video released Wednesday, responsibility for attacks on the Charlie Hebdo magazine and a Jewish supermarket in Paris.

"We, the Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), claim responsibility for this operation as a vengeance for the messenger of Allah," AQAP military leader Nasr al-Anisi said in the 11-minute video, Xinhua reported.

"We clarify to the Islamic nations that the one who chose the target, laid the plan and financed the operation, is the leadership of our organisation AQAP," he said.

Seventeen people were killed in Paris last week in attacks at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, on a police officer, and at a kosher supermarket.
