Tripura, Jan 17 (Agencies) : A man has been arrested on the charge of attempting to bury alive his nine-year old daughter at Putia in Sipahijala district of Tripura, police said on Saturday.
Abul Hussain was forcibly trying to bury her daughter Rukshena in a pit in the backyard of his residence, hands tied, mouth taped and filled earth upto her chest level. A neighbour saw it and raised an alarm following which locals rescued the girl on Friday, said Uttam Bhaumick, SP (Control).
The incident took place when her mother was not at home and the police sources say the reason behind it was the man's dislike for the girl child.
The girl was admitted to a hospital where her condition is stated to be serious. Abul has been arrested.
