Mangalore, Dec 25: The district administration in association with Federation of Dakshina Kannada District Consumers’ Union organised a programme to observe the National Consumers’ Day at Government Pre-University College for Women here on Sunday December 24.

Suratkal MLA J Krishna Palemar inaugurated the programme. Speaking on the occasion, he lamented that consumers were unaware of their rights. He urged the public to be wary of advertisements and not to get carried away by the rosy picture that they present.

There was a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of essay competition organised in view of the Consumers’ Day.

Among those present were Federation president M J Salian, Corporation Bank general manager Narendra, zilla panchayat deputy secretary P Shivashankar, Food and Civil Supplies department deputy director H Ratnakar Naik and Government PU college principal Shyam Bhat.
