Nine killed in Afghan bombing

Kabul, Jan 20 (IANS): Nine civilians were killed and two others were wounded when a bus touched off a roadside bomb in the eastern Ghazni province Tuesday, a provincial official said.

"Nine innocent civilians, including a woman and a child, were killed and two others wounded after a mini bus they were traveling in touched off an improvised explosive device(IED) in Gilan district around midday," deputy provincial governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi told Xinhua.

The official blamed the Taliban for planting the IED.

Some 10,000 civilians were killed in Taliban attacks in the central Asian country in 2014, according to UN officials.
