New Delhi, Dec 27: Just a few hours after teenage pace bowler Ishant Sharma was chosen to fly to South Africa to join the Indian team, the BCCI put the decision on hold, a board official said Wednesday.
Sharma, 18, was to have replaced all-rounder Irfan Pathan. He is yet to make his Test debut and currently plays for New Delhi.
No other replacement has been named so far, Ratnakar Shetty a senior administrator at India's cricket board in Mumbai told The Associated Press.
Cricket authorities decided to send speedster Pathan back home after his lacklustre bowling performance in the one-day series in which South Africa scored a whitewash 4-0 win.
Pathan didn't play in the first Test, which India won by 123 to lead the three-match series 1-0.
Indian quick Munaf Patel also has missed the first two Tests because of an ankle injury.
